Liga MB Round 13: Brujos beat El Rapido by one after a very close game

Eighth-ranked El Rapido (2-9) used its home court advantage to challenge fifth ranked Brujos (7-3) in La Union on Saturday. The visitors from Izalco managed to secure only one-point victory 111-110. However their fans expected easier game. Brujos dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to El Rapido's 48. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jeremee Davis (191-90, college: Georgia Coll.) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Guyanese-American center Anthony Moe (206-90, college: Millersville) contributed with 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds for the winners. American Reggie Baker (193-93, college: BCU) answered with 32 points and 7 assists for El Rapido. Brujos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Santa Ana and Santa Tecla. El Rapido lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Brujos is looking forward to face Santa Ana (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. El Rapido will have a break next round.

Visiting Santa Ana was defeated by Fantasmas in a tough game in San Vicente 85-89. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Santa Ana. American players dominated the game. Guard Randy Bell (193-98, college: Dalton St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winners and Nick Moore chipped in 22 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Fantasmas maintains sixth place with 6-5 record. Santa Ana at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Santa Tecla and Brujos. Fantasmas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santa Ana will play on the road against Brujos in Izalco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Fantasmas - Santa Ana 89-85
